Boundaries

I'll be happy to not discuss how Sarah Palin should raise her children, if she and John McCain will renounce their positions on how other people should raise theirs.

But since the GOP (and Palin herself) have spent a lot of time forcing 'abstinence only' sex education on others, and supporting laws and judges that would force other daughters into the same path as Palin's, I think it ought to be mentioned. While everyone is applauding the "choice" her daughter has made, it should not be forgotten that her mother's campaign would deny other women the ability to make a choice.

It also seems relevant to me that the teenage daughter of a supporter of 'abstinence only' education has gotten pregnant out of wedlock. Does this affect the governor's stand on this issue? Why or why not? The GOP party platform includes language demanding increased funding for 'abstinence only', and opposing school-based counseling. If Governor Palin is going to be taking a role in determining national policy on this issue, I want to know where she stands.

So, as soon as Governor Palin and John McCain start respecting other families' privacy and right to deal with difficult challenges without the intrusion of strangers, they can have that respect in turn. Barack Obama is right that politics should not be part of how a family deals with situations like the one faced by the Palin family.

So, Sarah Palin and John McCain, back off!
