One Year Since
I've been trying to figure out what to write to mark the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and the devastation of the Gulf Coast and New Orleans. It's been hard, because the situation is so upsetting on so many levels.
Luckily, the reliable blogger Scout Prime at First Draft has written it for me, better and more authoritatively than I could have done.
ThinkProgress has done an excellent job of bringing the Katrina timeline forward, showing what's been happening over the last year.
If you'd like to get a personal perspective on what's going on down there unmediated by spin meisters or news organizations, First Draft is one of the many blogs on the case.
Finally, if you watch any coverage of the Katrina anniversary at all, you owe it to yourself to view this video, put together by the multi-talented Scout Prime. It'll remind you of why we must do something more, and demand better of our leaders, our media, our country and ourselves.
