The Votes are still being counted
I'm going to sleep soon, and will probably have a troubled sleep that I won't want to wake up from tomorrow.
The networks have agreed that Florida has gone to Bush, and that it all comes down to Ohio, and some think Bush has taken Ohio, and therefore been re-elected.
I don't believe it. The votes are still being counted. The latest CNN numbers have the margin in Ohio smaller than the provisional ballots outstanding, which means we won't know for 10 days, since Ohio law has a waiting period before counting can begin.
And I don't trust Florida before the absentees are counted, either.
It looks bad. But it isn't over. Sadly, the networks are driven to pick a winner, and will give it to Bush, making any Kerry victory coming out of a final count seem tainted.
The optimist in me says, hang in there. Don't Panic.
The pessimist is remembering that they re-elected Nixon, too. And this time we don't have a hope of a Congress impeaching him.
I can't worry about this any more tonight. I'll wake up when more actual votes have been counted.
