It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Fitzmas...

Everywhere you look.

But particularly at the usually-reliable The Washington Note blog of Steve Clemmons:

Indictments Coming Tomorrow; Targets Received Letters Today

An uber-insider source has just reported the following to TWN (since confirmed by another independent source):

1. 1-5 indictments are being issued. The source feels that it will be towards the higher end.

2. The targets of indictment have already received their letters.

3. The indictments will be sealed indictments and "filed" tomorrow.

4. A press conference is being scheduled for Thursday.

The shoe is dropping.

More soon.

The import of "sealed indictments" is uncertain. Apparently, they may just be sealed until those identified in them are arrested. Alternately, there may still be plea negotiations and "flipping" underway, and sealed indictments could be dismissed unopened if the subject cooperated with the prosecution. Or, since the grand jury is about to expire, sealed indictments could allow Fitzgerald to "bank" some indictments now, while he empowered another grand jury to continue investigations as-yet-unfinished, without having to reveal all that he does know so far. Oh, and the legal commenters of the blogosphere suggest that each indictment could be for multiple charges, so read indictments as "people charged."
