Leadership
As if I needed more reason to be dissatisfied with the Democratic leadership in Washington, or more cause to believe that we need not only a Democratic victory in the Fall, but also for various progressive Democrat upstarts to win their primaries, I stumbled upon this, Senator Reid talking about the flag desecration amendment:
The stupidest political stunt in a month of stupid political stunts, and the worst he can say is he thinks they have some misplaced priorities? But he's nonetheless going to vote for it, but only because it's going to lose? Come on, people. How hard can it be to say "No, this is stupid, I won't play this game?"
What happened to the man who shut down the Senate until Pat Roberts promised he'd hold hearings on the White House's use of prewar intelligence? (Which, by the way, still haven't happened, and aren't likely to.) Was Reid feeling irregular that day, or what?
"I think we have some misplaced priorities," Sen. Harry Reid (Nev.) said, condemning the amendment at a news conference. "I don't think it's the right time to bring up the issue." Reid seemed a bit sheepish as he acknowledged, "I'll vote for it."Why do so many Americans believe that the Democratic party is wishy-washy and doesn't stand for anything? Uh, gee, I wonder.
So if he thinks bringing it up is such a bad idea, why is he voting for it? "I'm confident it won't pass," Reid explained.
