Perspective
I'd been thinking about writing a post about the speech W. would give in nominating his pick to replace Sandra Day O'Connor.
It would be something like "I am pleased to announce my selection of the first Mongol-American nominee to the Supreme Court, Atilla the Hun. Atilla has an exemplary record as a decisive leader. More, he raised himself up from the mere child of illiterate Central Asians to establish himself as someone with a justly deserved world-wide reputation. In a time of grave threats to this nation, we need a strong voice on the Supreme Court." And so on.
But then I got distracted by the blog-chatter about the comment made by MSNBC journalist Lawrence O'Donnell that Karl Rove is about to be revealed as the leaker of Valerie Plame's name.
Finally my coffee kicked in, and I realized it was July 2, and something much more important was going on. For fans of intrigue, fierce competition, careers made and lost, grueling combat, and unexpected turnarounds, why bother with Washington, when Le Tour is on?!
