Thank goodness I didn't have a sip of something in my mouth when I read this:

"It's not a pay raise," said House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas. "It's an adjustment so that they're not losing their purchasing power."

That's the closing to an AP article entitled House Agrees to $3,100 Pay Raise for 2006. The press corps has finally figured out what Jon Stewart has known for some time: if you just let their words stand on their own, they generate their own mockery.
