Sometimes He Makes Me Laugh
Usually, anytime I see or read about Dick Cheney opening his mouth, my blood pressure spikes and I accelerate at 6Gs into a red rage against all he represents. Sometimes he doesn't even need to open his mouth; that smirk is pretty bad by itself.
But, every once in a while, he's just so ridiculous that I have to laugh. Like this:
You know, now that I think about it, I've never met anybody who loves Dick Cheney. I suppose his mother does...
Dick seems to suffer memory lapses about Democrats. He couldn't remember meeting John Edwards and sitting next to him at a prayer breakfast, and now he doesn't remember that Dean was a governor. He might want to get his heart meds checked. Insufficient blood to the brain can cause memory problems.
Of course, then we might lose the delicious irony of a man who, while suggesting a political critic is a man only his mother could love, gives advice on being "over the top" and the kind of individual we want to have representing a political party.
It's funny that there has been such a flap about Dean's rhetoric when Dick spits out gems like this on a regular basis. Do you suppose we'll get to see the TV pundit panels discussing whether this comment was going too far, and suggesting that Cheney is alienating Democratic voters? He is supposed to be Vice-President of all the people, you know.
While they're at it, they might discuss his statements about Saddam's links to al-Qaeda, Saddam's nuclear effort, and biological weapons. Do you suppose we'll start hearing about how "out of control" he is, and what a "liability" he is for the party? Do you think we'll hear Pat Buchannan predicting he's about to lose his job?
Now I make myself laugh!
Update: Governor, would you care to comment?

WASHINGTON - Howard Dean is "over the top," Vice President Dick Cheney says, calling the Democrats' chairman "not the kind of individual you want to have representing your political party."As the article goes on to note, Dean was elected governor of Vermont five times between 1992 and 2000. Yes, Dick, that's why people call him "Governor Dean." By the way, Vermont has a bigger population than Wyoming, where you got elected Representative. (But then again, so does the City of Seattle.) Of course, that was before you chose yourself for the Bush ticket.
"I've never been able to understand his appeal. Maybe his mother loved him, but I've never met anybody who does. He's never won anything, as best I can tell," Cheney said in an interview to be aired Monday on Fox News Channel's "Hannity & Colmes."

"My view is FOX News is a propaganda outlet for the Republican Party and I don't comment on FOX News," Dean said. That was in response to vice president Dick Cheney calling Howard Dean "over the top" on Fox News on Sunday.
