Not the brightest bulb?

I think the debate was a clear win for Kerry among people who think the President should be able to think, learn from mistakes by admitting he's made them, and understand that some issues aren't just black or white. Sadly, there are a lot of our fellow citizens who aren't in that group.

The President looked like a chimp on amphetamines, though not as odd as last outing. He did, however, display a few moments of, well, just plain stupidity. Or was it?
BUSH: Is my time up yet?

MR. GIBSON: No, you can keep going.

PRESIDENT BUSH: Keep going. Good. (Laughter.)

MR. GIBSON: You're on a roll.

PRESIDENT BUSH: You looked at me like my clock was up. (Light laughter.)
I'm sorry, is the light system really that hard to figure out? Really? He had a similar "problem" last debate. I guess it must be distracting to come to the end of your complete 25 seconds of canned rhetoric and find the green light is still on. (At least this time he didn't shout "Let me finish!" when no one was interrupting him.)

Of course, there are some who say that it's a practiced technique for stalling for time without looking like you have nothing to say. There are even some who, upon watching for a second time, might note that he wasn't even looking at Charlie when he stopped talking, and had just finished a rant about how Kerry was going to raise taxes. (He finishes with his punch line, stops, and then says 'Is my time up yet?', almost as if he can't wait to stop talking. )

Oh, and what does it mean that John Kerry knows more about the President's personal finances than he does? Some might say it shows W. to be the simpleton he plays on TV. Others might suggest that it was a tactic to avoid acknowledging that he is a millionaire who actually makes money from investing, not some good-ol-boy who was lucky enough to get elected prez-i-dent. By the way, factcheck.org confirms that he declared proceeds from his share of a timber-growing company.
