Guantanamo on the Hudson
That, apparently, is what they are calling the detention practices of the NYPD during the Republican Convention. Out here on the West Coast, the story we are hearing is that it was mainly peaceful, with few arrests, though thousands and thousands protested. And it was no Chicago 1968.

A woman who, perhaps foolishly, went into town to see what was going on, wandered into the wrong place at the wrong time, and was forced into 49 hours of fairly abusive detention. It's long, but worth a read, for a different perspective on what was happening in Manhattan last week.
