Jobs, Jobs, Jobs!
Hoo-boy, that economy really has turned around! For the 12th month in a row, payrolls have grown. Today's job report shows that the economy added 144,000 jobs in August. I feel so much better!
What's that? Because of population growth, we need to add about 150,000 jobs a month just to keep even? So basically, we managed to just almost keep up with the minimum in August? So we're nowhere near even beginning to catch up with the job loss since Bush took office? Oh.
So, then, Bush is still going to be the first President since Hoover to end his term with fewer jobs out there then when he started? Yup. Funny we didn't hear anything about that last night.
(Those of you with longer memories will recall that in February of this year, the Bush administration predicted the U.S. economy would create 2.6 million jobs this year. 2,600,000 jobs over 12 months would be an average of 216,667 per month. Not that anyone is even paying attention to that anymore.)
