A Little More Patience...

I voted this morning around 10am. It was my last opportunity to vote in person at a real polling place, because King County will soon be joining the rest of Washington state in all-vote-by-mail voting. I detest that system, which I feel robs me of the pleasure of rubbing elbows with neighbors in a regular ritual of communal democracy. I also have enough doubt about my ballot when I stuff it into an official box at the polling place with my own hand - the idea that I would trust the postal system with that ballot is laughable.

Come next election, I'll have to content myself with toting the ballot down to the county courthouse myself, and I bet they won't have friendly oldsters working the polls, nor a middle school bake sale out front. It's a loss.
