Be Careful What You Wish For
The McCain campaign has been complaining that they can't get much press coverage, because the press favors Obama and is busy covering Obama overseas, and not McCain in Minnesota and Pennsylvania.
I think it's pretty silly. Obviously, Obama is making news, and McCain isn't really doing anything very noteworthy.
I mean, maybe, if he had accused a fellow US Senator of sedition, that might have deserved some coverage. Or, if, say, he'd had a gaffe, where he stumbled over the basic geography of the nations where our troops are currently fighting and dying. Perhaps, if he'd demonstrated a stunning confusion about the basic, documented history of the conflict in Iraq, and simultaneously called an accurate description "false", then he might have gotten some airtime.
Oh, wait. He DID all those things!
Golly, maybe they have a point. You'd think McCain would be dominating the headlines, but for some reason he isn't.
I mean, the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric didn't even AIR that bit where McCain said Obama was saying something false, and actually substituted a different quote for that bit where he got the history wrong. It's like they were so desperate to avoid covering McCain that they had to violate the canons of journalistic ethics!
Who knows when this horrible bias on the part of the media will abate? When will they start giving the McCain campaign the coverage it deserves, instead of just following Obama around? When? When?
