Looking For His Head?

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush will undergo a routine colonoscopy Saturday and temporarily hand presidential powers over to Vice President Dick Cheney, the White House said.

Press secretary Tony Snow told reporters Friday that Bush will have the procedure done at his Camp David, Md., mountaintop retreat.

Does anyone else think the the President might have a better handle on the nation's healthcare crisis if, instead of getting the procedure at our expense at a lovely mountain retreat, he had to get pre-approval from his insurance company, and check into a hospital with the rest of the shlubs? Do you suppose he gets a slit-up-the-back johnny coat with the presidential seal on it? I'm pretty sure he won't have to check in at a counter with harried clerical help, or get an IV put in by a busy aide who has 12 more patients to get to that hour.

Still, the scariest part of that news is the phrase "temporarily hand presidential powers over to Vice President Dick Cheney".
