Today's The Day
Already there are reports of problems with voting machines in several states with close races. (There is funny TV footage of Congresswoman Jean Schmidt, the Republican who called Murtha a coward, having her ballot rejected by an optical scan machine in Ohio.) The Attorney General of the State of Missouri was asked repeatedly for photo ID, despite the fact that the state Supreme Court had rejected the law requiring it. With all the problems and large numbers of people using absentee ballots to avoid machine problems, we may not get counts real soon.
We all deserve a system that works better than this, but it's the one we've got, so use it. Maybe, this time, when the dust settles, people will demand it actually get fixed.
Otherwise the terrorists have won.
