Go Ask Scooter

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Justice Department has opened an investigation into the leak of classified information about President Bush's secret domestic spying program, Justice officials said Friday.

The officials, who requested anonymity because of the sensitivity of the probe, said the inquiry will focus on disclosures to The New York Times about warrantless surveillance conducted by the National Security Agency since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
Perhaps they could ask Scooter Libby. I hear he likes to talk to people at the New York Times.

Oh, wait, he would only participate in illegal behavior by the White House, never expose it. Never mind.

One does wonder why the Justice Department chose to open its investigation now, since the Times has been sitting on this story for over a year, at the request of the White House. If they really wanted to find the leaker, wouldn't it have been easier back when the leak had just happened?

You don't suppose the real motive behind this investigation is the embarassment of HRH, do you? I'm shocked, ... shocked!
